Symptoms Of Bronchitis


For either acute bronchitis or chronic bronchitis, the signs and symptoms include:

Cough

The production of mucus (sputum) which may be clear, white, gray or yellowish green

Fatigue

Slight fever and chills

Chest discomfort

If you have acute bronchitis, which can have a persistent cough that lingers for several weeks after resolution of the bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis is defined as a productive cough lasting at least three months for two consecutive years. If you have chronic bronchitis, are likely to have periods when your signs and symptoms worsen. Right now, you can have acute bronchitis at the top of his chronic bronchitis. In some cases, the cough may disappear and reappear later.

When to seek medical advice

Consult your doctor if your cough:

Lasts longer than three weeks

You wake

It is accompanied by fever higher than 100.4 F (38 C)

Produces discolored mucus

Product of blood (hemoptysis)

Associated with wheezing or shortness of breath
