Prevention Of Acne

Once your acne improves or disappears, it may be necessary to continue with your medication against acne or other treatment to prevent new acne breakouts. In some cases, you can use a topical medication on acne-prone areas, continue to take the pill or participate in sessions of light therapy to keep your skin clear. Talk to your doctor about how you can prevent new outbreaks.

You can also prevent new outbreaks of acne care measures such as washing the skin with a gentle cleanser and avoid touching or picking at the problem areas. Other tips to prevent acne include:

Wash acne-prone areas only twice a day. Washing removes excess oil and dead skin cells. However, excessive washing can irritate the skin. Wash the area with a gentle cleanser and use oil free, water-based products for skin care.

Use an acne cream or gel on to help remove excess oil. Look for products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as active ingredient.

Avoid heavy foundation. Choose cosmetic powder cream products because they are less irritating.

Remove makeup before going to bed. Come to bed with cosmetics on the skin can clog tiny openings of hair follicles (pores). Also be sure to throw old makeup and clean your cosmetic brushes and applicators regularly with soapy water.

Loosefitting wearing clothes. Tightfitting clothing traps heat and moisture and can irritate the skin. In addition, where possible, to avoid tightfitting belts, backpacks, helmets and sports equipment to avoid friction with the skin.

Shower after exercising or doing strenuous work. Oil and sweat on the skin can trap dirt and bacteria.
