Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is the treatment of borderline personality based. Two types of psychotherapy, which has been found effective are:
Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT). TCD has been designed specifically to treat borderline personality disorder. Usually done by individuals, groups and telephone counseling, DBT uses a skills-based approach to teach you to regulate their emotions, tolerate distress and improve their relationships.
Transfer focused psychotherapy (TFP). TFP focuses on the relationship between you and your therapist - helps you understand the feelings and problems that develop in the relationship. You can then use what you learned in other contexts.
Drugs
Drug therapy is not a cure for borderline personality disorder, but may contribute to problems such as depression, impulsivity and anxiety. Medications can be an antidepressant, antipsychotic and anti-anxiety medications.
Hospitalized
At times, you may need more intensive treatment in a psychiatric hospital or clinic. Hospitalization can also keep you away from self-harm.
