Most children are completely toilet trained by age 4, but there really is no target date for developing complete bladder control. In 5 years, bedwetting remains a problem for only about 15 percent of children. Between 8 and 11, less than 5 percent of youth who are still wetting the bed.
When to see a doctor
Most children cope with this disorder - but some need a little help. In other cases, bed-wetting may indicate an underlying condition that needs medical care.
Consult your child's doctor if:
Your child wets the bed after age 5 or 6
Your child starts wetting the bed after a period of being dry at night
Nocturnal enuresis associated with painful urination, unusual thirst, urine pink or snoring
