Muscle pain
Shooting or stabbing
Pain that radiates down the leg
Limited flexibility and range of motion back
Inability to remain upright
Back pain that lasts from several days to several weeks is considered serious. Pain that lasts three months or more is considered chronic.
When to see a doctor
Further back pain gradually improves self-care and home care. Although the pain can last for several weeks to disappear completely, note some improvement in the first 72 hours of self-care. Otherwise, contact your doctor.
In rare cases, back pain may indicate a serious medical problem. Contact your doctor if your back pain:
Is constant and intense, especially at night or when lying down
It extends by one or both legs, especially if the pain extends below the knee
It causes weakness, numbness or tingling in one or both legs
Causes new problems of bowel or bladder
Associated with pain or cramps (fist) and the abdomen, or fever
Follow the bill, hit on the back or other injuries
Accompanied by unexplained weight loss
Also see your doctor if you start having back pain for the first time after 50 years, or if you have a history of cancer, abuse of osteoporosis, steroid use or drug or alcohol .
